*Charles Fox (1749-1809) of Bristol, explorer, linguist, collector of Persian manuscripts and author of the Poems…of Achmed Ardebeili, a Persian Exile, with notes historical and explanatory, published by Joseph Cottle in 1797. Cottle commissioned portraits by Bristol based Hancock of Coleridge 1796 (NPG), Lamb 1798 (NPG), Southey 1796 (NPG), Wordsworth 1798 (NPG) and himself 1800 (NPG) and may have also commissioned this.
