This large watercolour, in excellent original condition, is a fine example of De Wint's painterly abilities. More than any other artist of the 'Golden Age' of British watercolour De Wint embraced the nature of the medium, loading his brush with pigment and allowing the wetness to show through. His work is wonderfully expressive and seems to capture natural effects with great ease, be it weather or a rushing torrent near Betws-y-Coed.
