WWII; 'Ray Taylor Painting'.
Oil on the cotton sacking of a clothing parcel. Painted c.1942-45 while Philip Dark was a POW at Marlag O, Westertimke, near Bremen, Lower Saxony. Lieutenant H Ray Taylor RNVR (c.1913-1954) was second-in-command of a motor gunboat sunk in the channel in mid 1942. Before and after the War he was Art Master at Ermystead Grammar School, Skipton.
