Robert Henry Cheney and his brother Edward - the Cheney's of Badger Hall, Shropshire - were talented amateurs who followed their various drawings masters' lessons well. De Wint, Leitch and Cromek all instructed them and the drawings Robert Henry made on his continental trips show good drawing as well as a sensitive response to Southern light. Huon Mallalieu wrote a very fine account of the Cheneys' lives in 'Country Life'; a copy can be emailed.
