Sold
“We crossed over a considerable proportion of volcanic ground, having all the remains of old lava, tuffa etc. etc., scattered in all directions, and much of it not yet capable of cultivation; not a tree to be seen; reaching a height above the Village of Buccheri had a most beautiful view of Etna, Catania, Syracuse, the Sea, Lake of Lentini, and to the left a long line of softening mountains, beautiful in the light we saw them.”
