“We passed the Castle of Aci situated upon a precipitous rock of lava and formerly a fortress of great strength, where Artale of Arragon, its Lord, was besieged by the King but who, returning to his duty, capitulated honourably. The rock is difficult of access. The islands from hence made a beautiful appearance: a small village appertains to the castle but on the left part of its walls and a gate still remain.”
