Wood-Engravings

Cicely Englefield (1893–1970) trained at St Martin’s School of Art and the Central School of Arts and Crafts. She is known for her children’s books, which she both wrote and illustrated with coloured wood-engravings. The charm of her prints belies their technical brilliance. A large number of the works below would have been designed for her books.
