Prout O.W.S., Samuel (1783 – 1852) – Stone masons in a Gothic church.

It is difficult to imagine just how revered Prout was in the first half of the nineteenth-century, as a painter and as a drawing master. These Cathedral interiors were one of the most popular 'types' of his Continental watercolours and were widely collected. This is a fine example; signed and in good colour.
