“Close behind the Temple, and between it and the rocky Mountains, is a deep rocky ravine, from which perhaps the stone was taken; from hence you see the town of _ in a beautiful point of view, Wild fennel, and flowers of all kinds covered this rude spot, in the bottom being wet and bogey the herbage was luxuriant and some of the party regaled themselves with milk from a large flock of sheep and goats, which seemed to pasture here. This solemn scenery was heightened by dark clouds, a threatening rain, and strong wind; it was really cold and we had far to travel.”
