CONSERVATION
Watercolours | Prints | Drawings | Paintings | Frames
Fine art conservation was added to our business in 1987. For more than 30 years works on paper were conserved above the gallery in Museum Street. Since the redevelopment of our premises into a modern gallery setting all conservation work is carried out off-site. We work closely with a small group of carefully selected conservators who we trust with our own stock as well as taking on private commissions.
Does My Artwork Need Conservation?
You may want to seek our advice if your artwork shows signs of:
- Foxing or brown spotting.
- Tears or creases.
- Discolouration.
- Acid burn from old mounts.
- Cockling or distortion.
- Surface dirt.
- Previous restoration.
Our Role
Rather than simply referring clients elsewhere, we manage conservation projects from assessment through to completion, providing a single point of contact throughout the process.
We can:
- Assess condition.
- Provide quotes.
- Oversee treatment.
- Arrange framing and presentation.
Below are some recent examples of works we have conserved.
